In the past month, I have seen dozens of articles in the Metrowest Daily News on various groups promoting anti-semitism. This is a good thing. To be jewish is to artificially separate yourself from the mainstream by declaring a set of beliefs about a great sky creature called Yahweh and reminding others that the jews are the Chosenites, Yahweh's special chosen people (see Deuteronomy 14:2). Across 2,500 years, their great sky creature Yahweh has not shown himself anywhere and must have been eaten by the other bigger three-headed imaginary sky creature belonging to Catholics. Here's a few tips to future jews. In your next religion, get a nicer non-genocidal maniacal sky creature, allow proselytizing and please do not require the barbarism of circumcision to be a Chosenite.

The jews would have us believe that anti-semitism is prejudicial but they fail to mention that being jewish is artificially created prejudice in itself. Declaring yourself jewish makes you different? Wrong! It makes you stupid! Not a shred of evidence across 2,500 years and you still persist? Very impressive stupidity. The jews are about as sharp as a sack of wet mice!

Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Being anti-semitic seems to be perfectly rational to a militant atheist like myself. As another imaginary carrot loving rodent once stated.... What a bunch of maroons.

The very concept of anti-semitism cannot exist without the existence of an imaginary god. When you state you oppose anti-semitism, you are saying I believe in their imaginary god and that defines you as an idiot, unless you can show me your god.

I submitted the above as a letter to the editor of the Metrowest Daily News on July 9, 2013, and got this as a response on August 14, 2013, from Rick Holmes.

Sorry to be so late with this response. I've considered running this letter several times, and can't bring myself to do it.

There's a difference between challenging someone's beliefs and going out of your way to insult and offend them. "It makes you stupid" and "the jews are about as sharp as a sack of wet mice" have no value as debating points. In my experience, the vast majority of people who "declare themselves" Jewish aren't stating an intellectual position; they are acknowledging their family and cultural background. They don't deserve your scorn for havingq parents who are Jewish.

I also don't know what you're taking about when you cite "dozens of articles" in the past month promoting anti-Semitism. We haven't printed that many letters from you and the Rizolis.

I'm OK with atheism, even militant atheism. But as an editor (which is different from a censor), I'm charged with moderating a respectful community dialog.

Thanks anyway.

My response to Holmes on August 19, 2013

Stating that I should be more respectful means censorship. It is a liberal euphenism meaning censorship. Linda Dunbrack on Frambors prefers the term civility instead of respectful. Same thing.

I see you called my letter critical of judaism merely anti-semitic diatribe. You want me to more respectful to an idea, the false religion of judaism, that claims there is an invisible sky creature that made us in his image, wrote his holy book that supports genocide, bigotry, homophobia, misogyny, violence, cruelty, sheer ignorance. This is the idea that you respect?

Everybody can be described as ignorant about any subject. But willful ignorance is the definition of stupidity. When you choose to believe in stuff that remains unproven across 2,500 years, that is stunning stupidity. Got evidence of large powerful sky creatures, people living in large fish, Noah's Ark, evidence of the Exodus in egyptian history, any evidence of 600,000 living in the Sinia for 40 years? Show me evidence that the earth and the heavens were made 6,000 years ago. Remember, God hates fags! Encourages you to beat your disobedient children, treat women like property..... This is what you support?

You are aiding and abetting jewish fraud and you are proud of it.

I'd like to ask what your belief is. Are you a true believer or an atheist? Do you believe that you were made by god and that there is an afterlife? Do you disavow evolution? If a true believer, which god do you worship? If an atheist, why not state it publicly? Fear? I dare you, and double dare you to answer my simple questions. Speak now or forever hold your peace. The grave will give you plenty of time for silence on the isssue of religion.

This religion and any religion that has no basis in reality should never get any respect. Perhaps from people like you, but not from me. And you have the audacity to call your self a responsible journalist?

Bullshit!

And his response on August 27, 2013 was.....

I respectfully suggest you consider the difference between censorship, which is government-imposed, and editing, which is the right and responsibility of anyone publishing for general consumption. Surely you would consider it an imposition if someone demanded you put something up on your website that didn't please you.

I also suggest you consider the distinction between respect for a belief system and respect for fellow citizens, readers, and customers. I'm not particularly religious, if you must know, but that's irrelevant. My job as opinion editor isn't to publish just those ideas and opinions I agree with, but to encourage a diversity of opinions into the paper -- as long as they are expressed in a respectful manner.
